Thank you to my sister, Debbie, for helping me with this family history Descendants of Jacob WETTSTEIN Generation No. 1 1. Jacob1 WETTSTEIN was born 1825 in Switzerland. He married Magdalena BRUNNER Bef. 1845. Notes for Jacob WETTSTEIN: Jacob and Caroline Wettstein were born January 22, 1864 at Zurich, Switzerland, son and daughter of Jacob and Magdalena Brunner Wettstein. They attended school in Zurich and Jacob took his military training [t]here. At the age of 21, Jacob married Anna Wettstein, daughter of Jacob and Verena Wettstein Wettstein on May 13, 1885. Three days later they left on the ship, Normandie, for the United States. After arriving in the United States, they settled in Tazwell County, Illinois near Dillon and Tremont, where Jacob worked on the farm until he started farming on his own. While living [t]here four sons and three daughters were born to them: Jacob Jr., Charles, William, Samuel, Lena, Anna, Mary. In the spring of 1899, they moved to a farm near Carlock in Woodford County. A year later they purchased a farm near Eureka and moved to it. Three sons were born to them [t]here: John, Daniel, and Benjamin. In the spring of 1930, they retired and moved to a small farm south of the 'home place' where they lived until Jacob died on January 17, 1937 and Anna on November 13, 1945. The 'home place' is now owned and operated by their grandson, Marvin Wettstein. Much of the information on the Wettstein family was taken from a book compiled by Lyle and Lois Stoller on July 1, 1964. Revised July 18, 1976 and July 18, 1982. John Wettstein was born in Zurich, Switzerland on August 1, 1862 and came to the United States on November 10, 1886. Susanna Kathryn Kolb was born in Bern, Switzerland on February 28, 1867 and came to the United States on October 15,1886. They first met in La Crosse, Wisconsin and were married on January 1,1887. He was preceded by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Loren was a lifelong farmer in the Eureka area. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country during the Korean War.
