His death was sudden. His high blood pressure was controlled by medications. One month prior to his death, his usual doctor retired and the new doctor took him off all his meds. In 1977, his twin sons, Darrell and Gerald took over the business and he and Lil became ranchers in Center Point, TX. He was a member of the Order of Sons of Hermann for 55 years, R.S.E.S. for 45 years and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He also served on the church council and enjoyed volunteering at the Golden Age Center. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 583 in Center Point. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian Mae; son, Darrell and wife Melanie; son, Gerald and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Amy Noble and husband Joe, Janet Wehmeyer of College Station, TX, Brandy Shelton and husband John, Travis Wehmeyer, Keri Griffin and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Dylan and David Noble, and Nathan Griffin. Mr. Wehmeyer will lie in State at Grimes Funeral Chapels until 8:00 A.M., Monday, November 5, 2001.
