Charles was noted for supplying the Militia of Botetourt Co., VA with 1.5 bushels of corn on their march to join the Southern Army in the Revolutionary War. This act of service would qualify and entitle the descendants of Charles Vincent membership in the distinct organizations of DAR and SAR.

There are some trees onlin that are quite confusing as they have many of the same names as mine but parents may not be the same as what I have. I have not done the actual research on anyone I could not locate in the census or other reliable online records online. So I am not sure which tree to follow or believe to be accurate.

William T. Vincent Dies in Bremen

Bremen - William Thomas (Uncle Bill) Vincent, 85, died at his home in Bremen at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14.

Mr. Vincent was born in Bremen in 1862 and had lived here all his life. For over 50 years he had been in the lumber business here and for 57 years had been a member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were held at the Bethlehem Church with the Rev. T.T. Moore, assisted by the Rev. Hughlan Richey, officiating. The services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17. Burial was in Shaver's Chapel cemetery. The Masonic rites were said at graveside.

Mr. Vincent is survived by six sons, Giles, Chester and Ralph of Bremen, John H. of Louisville, Homer of Chicago and James of California; four daughters, Miss Helen Vincent and Mrs. Mable Blair of Louisville, and Mrs. Truman May and Mrs. Sherman Clark of Bremen; one brother, E.J. Vincent of Louisville, and 18 grandchildren.

Robert was an orphan. When he was in Rossville, GA (worked in cotton mills), he applied for his birth certificate because it was required for his job at the L & N Railroad in Evansville, IN in 1944. Robert told his daughter that his mother was known as Annie B. however his birth certificate indicates his mother's name was Mary Trunk. His daughter indicates there is mention of an Uncle Jack Vincent on his birth certificate. Mary Trunk was from Hopkins Co., KY. Robert was possibly raised by a Mr. Carter but it is not known what relationship, if any, there was to him.

Robert was not able to read or write and this is a known fact by his daughter. Robert told his daughter that he lived and worked on a farm owned by a Mr. Carter in Muhlenberg Co., KY. He and his wife Juanita Turner married in 1931 in Rockport, IN. Robert had a sister, Mary, and they were reunited after 50 years of separation. She was located in Newport, KY. Mary was also an orphan. Robert and Mary also had a brother, James. It is not known who Mary was raised by. At the time of Robert's death, he never learned where his brother James was.
