South Grape Creek Cemetery - We visited this cemetery on July 1, 2006.  From Hwy 290, traveling towards Luckenbach, go about 1.6 miles.  On the left is a white rock house.  A small grassy/dirt road runs along the right side of this house.  Behind this house is the cemetery.  It cannot be seen from the road.  On three sides surrounding the cemetery is a rusted wrought iron fence atop a short rock wall.  The earliest recorded burial is 1864.  This is the cemetery where my great great grandfather is buried.  His first wife is buried on the old Wehmeyer farm.  This farm still exists today (2006).  His second wife is buried in the Der Stadt Friedhoff Cemetery (City Cemetery) in Fredericksburg, TX.  (July 2006)

An Italian man won the bid of $ 3.8 million.  It is not known whether or not this was a legitimate sale 11-24-2007.
